Ugg-Disappointment

- Marcie Wright

Ugg - Disappointment

Disappointment to Joy.

Key Scriptures: Psalm 42:5 "Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God."

Habakkuk 3: 18-19 "Yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feel like the deer's; he makes me tread on my high places."

John 16:20b "You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy."

Have you ever been disappointed with someone, yourself or work? Sometimes, I think we start out being angry AT ourselves, AT others, AT work, AT a situation because (we think) anger protects us from feeling things deeper - it's risky to let go of the anger. (Anger is many times referred to as a secondary emotion.) Once we get through the anger, usually a deep sense of disappointment is lingering. Get gut honest with the ONLY ONE who can redeem ANYTHING. There is One in whom risk can be turned into trust and...JOY. Oh, friend go to the Father as David did in Psalm 42:5, then step into the Scriptures from Habakkuk and John!

Go find that quiet place where it's just you and God - away from distractions and pray through: A.C.T.S.

Adoration:

  • Lord, I worship you because you are the ONLY one who sees all and knows all.
  • Lord, I worship you because YOU are the ONLY TRUE joy.
  • Lord, I worship you because you are Redeemer!

Confession:

  • Please forgive me when I quickly react to life/situations with anger
  • Please forgive us when we don't stop, wait, and seek you first
  • Please forgive me/ us when we think we know everything (pride)

Thanksgiving:

  • Thank you for your grace and mercy
  • Thank you for amazing forgiveness
  • Thank you for giving us opportunities to forgive one another

Supplication:

  • Teach us to be a people who see your image in everyone - regardless
  • Teach us to listen before speaking
  • Remind us that as YOUR disciples, THIS is not our home.

In Jesus' Name, AMEN!
