ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Lead Pastor serves as the primary spiritual and pastoral leader of the congregation, providing vision, direction, and oversight for the life and ministry of the church. He is responsible for preaching and teaching the Word of God, shepherding the congregation, and overseeing the church’s operations and ministries. We desire our lead pastor to have a Wesleyan theological foundation.
In collaboration with Newsong’s Executive Leadership Team, the Lead Pastor develops and implements the church’s vision and strategic direction, ensuring alignment with its mission and core values. As the visible and visionary leader of the congregation, he guides the church in fulfilling God’s purposes through faithful preaching, intentional discipleship, and Christ-centered example.
The Lead Pastor is also committed to cultivating a healthy and vibrant church community by providing pastoral care, counsel, and spiritual guidance to the Newsong family. He prioritizes the identification, recruitment, training, equipping, and empowerment of servant leaders, fostering a culture of leadership development and shared ministry responsibility.
Through spiritual leadership, teaching, shepherding, and administrative oversight, the Lead Pastor plays a vital role in guiding and nurturing the life and growth of the congregation.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE LEAD PASTOR
The Lead Pastor shall serve as the primary spiritual leader of the congregation and shall be responsible for the following duties:
Preaching and Teaching
Regularly provide Bible-centered, Spirit-led preaching and teaching through Sunday worship services and other ministry opportunities.
Spiritual Preparation
Devote adequate time to prayer and in-depth study of Scripture in preparation for weekly worship services, Bible studies, prayer gatherings, classes, and other scheduled training events.
Spiritual Leadership and Direction
Provide overarching spiritual leadership to the Newsong family by offering guidance, direction, and oversight to promote spiritual growth, unity, and congregational health.
Pastoral Care
Provide pastoral care through counseling, prayer, visitation, and other appropriate means, particularly for individuals and families experiencing personal crises.
Leadership Development and Training
Develop, implement, and oversee ministry-specific training for small group leaders, staff members, and volunteers to strengthen leadership capacity within the church.
Vision Casting and Congregational Unity
Clearly communicate the church’s mission, vision, purpose, and direction, and work to cultivate unity by motivating and equipping the congregation to
actively support and advance these objectives.
Culture Building
Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, trust, and continuous growth within the Newsong family and staff, promoting mentorship, development, and collaborative ministry.
Oversight of Leadership Philosophy
Provide oversight of the church’s leadership development philosophy across all ministries to ensure consistency in language, tools, systems, values, and practices.
Curriculum Development and Collaboration
Collaborate with ministry staff to develop and execute ministry-specific leadership training curricula designed to cultivate effective and biblically grounded leaders.
Mentorship and Leader Formation
Organize and lead regular group and individual meetings to build mentoring relationships and intentionally develop emerging leaders.
Strategic Leadership Development Planning
Assist in shaping and implementing the long-range strategic vision for the church’s leadership development pipeline.
Crisis Response and Care
Provide direct pastoral support during times of crisis through counseling, prayer, and spiritual guidance.
Executive and Organizational Oversight
Serve as head of the pastoral leadership team, providing general oversight of staff and volunteer responsibilities and development; ensure the development, implementation, and adherence to church policies, systems, and procedures; and coordinate strategic planning efforts in alignment with the Newsong’s mission and vision.
Modeling a Life of Service and Prayer
Lead the congregation by example in cultivating a lifestyle of service, prayer, and faithful discipleship.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Masters of Divinity (from accredited seminary), Bachelors Degree.
- Experience: Preferably 5 years of pastoral or leadership roles.
- Skills: Strong communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills are
essential.
- Character: Must demonstrate Christ-like character and a commitment to the church's mission and values.
OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR
Part-time | On-site
Hours: 25+/week
Report to: Lead Pastor, Personnel Leader, Executive Team Leader
ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Office Administrator is the first contact with the Newsong Family and the greater community. The Office Administrator manages the daily operations of the church including but not limited to: training, equipping, overseeing volunteers, supplies and communication. The O.A. has the ability to maintain confidentiality.
1. Internal/External Communication
- Worship Experience Loop
- Create Weekly Graphic-based email

- Manage digital communication: Text In Church, Church Center App
- Internal Displays (delegating or creating)
2. Calendar
- Manage church calendar (spread out on various digital platforms and print)
Includes all ministry teams, events, and outside groups
3. Ministry Teams Liaison:
- Maintain current team lists & contact info.
- Be available to provide requests of teams
- Prepare rooms, food requests, etc for ministry team meetings
4. Membership/Registration:
- Planning Center Online
5. Procurement:
- Building supplies
- Grounds
- Special events/projects
- Small Groups/Ministry Teams
6. Human Resources:
- Maintain/Compose Employee Handbook/Procedures
- Manage employee forms (PTO and Vacation)
- Manage employee health plans when offered
- Background Checks, including volunteers
9. Facility:
- Coordinate Cleaning Professionals
- Internet Maintenance
- Maintain Lock Up Schedule/key use
- Manage requests for building use
- Coordinate Staff Responsibilities
10. 501(c)(3) Compliance
- Maintain annual reporting for the Secretary of State (S.O.S.)
- Maintain current non-profit status (periodic inspection)
- Update & maintain current non-profit signature agents/officers
- Maintain current IRS determination letter and IRS Form 1023
11. Staff Meetings
- Attend weekly staff meetings set by lead pastor
12. Sunday
- Download/screen mirror all advertising loops
- Recruit live announcement leader for both services
- Recruit 8 communion helpers
- Troubleshoot all wifi connections
- Set up all ipads for Kidsong/Nursery checkins
- Set up all ipads for giving
- Place all print media on worship seats
- Download advertising loops to Media drive for proclaim (AV Booth)
- Make sure all rooms are ready for volunteers
- Set up any missional life spotlights
- Be available for any “need”
