Local Mission Opportunities

Opportunities to engage with our community locally!

ANGEL TREE

Every Advent season, we partner with Angel Tree, a program of Prison Fellowship. Angel Tree reaches out to the children of prisoners and their families with the love of Christ. This unique program gives you an opportunity to share God's love by helping to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the families of prisoners. At NewSong, we receive children's names from Angel Tree and in turn we provide Christmas gifts for these children who would receive nothing otherwise.

PUMPKIN PATCH

Our yearly fundraiser in which 100% of the proceeds go to missions. This happens every year for the entire month of October. We invite local pre-schools, elementary schools, and Head Start programs to an interactive field trip to the Patch during the morning hours. In the afternoon, our patch is open to the public to purchase pumpkins. We have one of the largest pumpkin patches in south Louisiana, which means we have an even greater opportunity to engage with and care for the thousands of people who come through during the month of October!

OPEN AIR MINISTRIES

Open Air Ministries is an ecumenical ministry of churches in and around the Baton Rouge area. The intention of this ministry it to create a space for the homeless community in downtown Baton Rouge to experience spiritual growth and seek Jesus and know He is seeking them regardless of their circumstances.

Quarterly, we meet to make 200 sandwiches and fruit bags to deliver after the weekly Sunday worship service held in the parking lot of St. Vincent DePaul Charitable Center (on the corner of N 17th and Florida). It is a beautiful opportunity to engage with those we may easily overlook in the rush of our everyday lives and foster our call as disciples while sharing the gospel with our brothers and sisters on the street.

Mandeville Boys' Home

An opportunity to serve the boys at the Methodist Children's home in Mandeville. There are typically around 20 boys ranging in age from 7-17. We engage in conversation with them over picnics and love them through listening and being present. We try to provide special gifts for each boy throughout the year to remind them that they are loved and we are thinking about them.
