COVID-19 & NewSong Response

Updates on how we are responding to the Coronavirus as a worshipping community.

Hey NewSong community and friends,

I pray you are resting in the knowledge that God is still above all in our lives and throughout the world. I wanted to touch base with all of you regarding our direction for the foreseeable future.

We had a great morning of worship on Sunday (March 15) with those in the building and those who joined us online. We felt it was the right decision for our community at the time as we considered the recommendations of the leadership of the state and the nation. It was a decision that was made prayerfully and in consultation with the NewSong leadership.

But, now the recommendations have changed again and we will be responsive to those changes.

We will be ONLY live-streaming for the coming weeks until the restrictions and recommendations given by the government officials are lifted. We are doing this because:

  1. We are loving our neighbors by protecting our neighbors.
  2. We are not living in fear. We are being responsible and respectful of our leaders.
  3. This is what love requires of us in this season.

So, come together with us as we worship our God TOGETHER....Online:

Live on Facebook

Live On YouTube

  • Please note that even though we are not physically together for worship, you can still worship through your weekly giving. We will still be doing the work of the Church and the NewSong community needs your gifts to continue these ministries. You can give electronically online at https://newsongcommunity.church/giving
  • Engage Groups and Youth of NewSong will not meet during the rest of March.

I again reiterate these considerations:

  • Please wash your hands with soap and warm water for 20 seconds (that is essentially the time it takes to say The Lord’s Prayer) pre and post meals, and post bathroom visits and mid morning, mid afternoon, mid evening and before you go to bed.
  • If you cough or sneeze, please cough into a Kleenex or your covered sleeve. If you are coughing and sneezing, you may want to consider decreasing contact with others until the symptoms pass. Also stay clear of anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
  • If you are sick, please seek the help of your medical professionals and eliminate contact with others.
  • If you become sick, please let members of your Engage Group, Bible Study or friends know. Or let us know through https://newsongcommunity.church/contact-us so we can pray for you and support you during this time.
  • When you are able, please support our local businesses by ordering out for delivery, pick or drive through. All of our businesses need us to continue to support them in whatever way we can.

We will continue to monitor the situation and if we become aware of a need for any changes, we will communicate any updates to you.

Please continue to be in prayer for community, national, and world leaders as they navigate this pandemic. This is all unique to everyone involved. Pray for those who are at risk and those who are fearful and anxious at this time. Also pray that God will slow or eliminate the continued spread of this virus.

Finally, “Don’t panic. I’m with you. There’s no need to fear for I’m your God. I’ll give you strength. I’ll help you. I’ll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you. Count on it...That’s right. Because I, your God, have a firm grip on you and I’m not letting go. I’m telling you, ‘Don’t panic. I’m right here to help you.’”

Isaiah 41:10; 13 (The Message)

Dear Members and Friends of NewSong on Old Perkins Road,

I pray you are well and are resting in the peace of Christ and the knowledge that God is still at work in the world and in our lives.

As many of you, we have been following the news about COVID-19 (coronavirus) and are aware of the many cancellations being announced nationally and locally. We understand the intent of the many cancellations of large gatherings is to slow the spread of the virus and protect those among us who are most vulnerable. This is a very reasonable response to the uncertainty and the influx of new information each day. Throughout this time, we need to remain calm and reasoned and most importantly, we need to keep our eyes focused on Jesus who is the author and perfecter of our faith. (Hebrews 12:2) He is our hope at all times!

Through consultation with the NewSong Leadership, we have decided to continue with our March 15 worship experiences at 9am and 10:30am. If you are feeling sick, have any pre-existing conditions that could put you at risk, or if you need to stay home, please do. You can still be a part of our worship experience by joining us Here or on Facebook

We know there are some with questions and concerns regarding the circumstances of the virus and how to proceed in every day life including worship. So please consider the following:

Come together with us for worship of our amazing God:

Live on Facebook

Live On YouTube

  • Please note that even if you are not with us physically for worship, you can still worship through your weekly giving. The NewSong community still needs your gifts to continue our ministries. Please consider giving electronically online at https://newsongcommunity.church/giving

  • Engage Groups: For these groups that meet off-site, you are encouraged to be wise and prayerful when making the decision to gather. If you have questions about your specific group, please contact Marcie Wright at [email protected]

Other considerations:

Please use common sense and caution. If you have a weakened immune system, please limit yourself socially including worship experiences.

Please wash your hands with soap and warm water for 20 seconds (that is essentially the time it takes to say The Lord’s Prayer) pre and post meals, and post bathroom visits and mid morning, mid afternoon, mid evening and before you go to bed.

If you cough or sneeze, please cough into a Kleenex or your covered sleeve. If you are coughing and sneezing, you may want to consider decreasing contact with others until the symptoms pass. Also stay clear of anyone who is coughing or sneezing.

If you are sick, please seek the help of your medical professionals and eliminate contact with others.

If you become sick, please let members of your Engage Group or Bible Study know or let us know through https://newsongcommunity.church/contact-us so we can pray for you and support you during this time.

We have communicated to our professional cleaning service to make sure all hard, common surfaces are disinfected and sanitized prior to Sunday.

We will continue to monitor the situation and if we become aware of a need for further measures, we will communicate any updates to you.

Please be in prayer for community, national, and world leaders as they navigate this pandemic. Pray for those who are at risk and those who are fearful and anxious at this time. Also pray that God will slow or eliminate the continued spread of this virus.

Finally, “Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)
