DO YOU WANT TO GET WELL?

Do You Want to Be Well?

John 5:1–9 (CSB): After this, a  Jewish festival took place, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2 By the Sheep Gate in Jerusalem there is a pool, called Bethesda in Aramaic, which has five colonnades. 3 Within these lay a large number of the disabled—blind, lame, and paralyzed. 5 One man was there who had been  disabled for thirty-eight years. 6 When  Jesus saw him lying there and realized he had already been there a long time, he said to him, “ Do you want to get well?” 7 “Sir,” the disabled man answered, “I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up,  but while I’m coming, someone goes down ahead of me.” 8 “Get up,” Jesus told him, “pick up your mat and walk.” 9 Instantly the man got well, picked up his mat, and started to walk.

Do you want to get well? What are you willing to do to get there? Are you willing to do what Jesus tells you to do? Are you willing to do it even if it difficult for you to believe God can do it? Are you willing to set aside all of your excuses and reasons and be obedient to Jesus and not to your concerns and worries?

Jesus is with you! He is able! Cry out to Him. Let Him know what you need in your life. He is able to accomplish all that you need. He says He is able if we have the faith the size of a mustard seed. Just a little faith! Will you reach out to Him and let Him minister to you?

“The sick man had been within sight of help throughout his illness. He knew he needed help; he knew help was available; but he couldn’t help himself. Jesus helps those who can’t help themselves.

The one thing the man had to do it “Get Up, pick up his mat and walk.” Jesus does amazing things in our lives but many times, we are asked to participate.

Where is God telling you to “Get Up?” Where do you need to get up in your life and be obedient to what God is telling you to do?

What can’t you do for yourself?”
